UAE to finance, Egypt to part take in digging Saudi “Salwa Canal”
SANAA, Sep.1 (YPA) – Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Saturday hinted that the Kingdom plans to dig Salwa Canal along its border with Qatar in a project that would turn the peninsula into an island.
The Saudi “Sabq” newspaper announced that “the canal project is funded entirely by Saudi and Emirati investors from the private sector, with the sovereignty of Saudi Arabia in full.”
Leading Egyptian companies will undertake the digging of the water canal, under the desire of the investment alliance executing the project to benefit from the Egyptian expertise in digging the Suez Canal, the newspaper added.
