SHABWA, oct. 30 (YPA) – Saudi-backed forces launched on Friday a large-scale raid campaign early Friday, targeting the homes of residents from the Al-Maraaziq tribe in Nisab district of Shabwa province.
A tribal source confirmed that the campaign, led by hardline Salafi Khamis Al-Maraaziqi, who is close to the Saudi forces commander in Shabwa, Musleh Al-Otaibi, reached the Al-Saeed area of Al-Maraaziq and raided several homes under the pretext of pursuing wanted individuals in connection with clashes that erupted in the city of Ataq in recent days.
The source added that tribal sheikhs and dignitaries from Al-Maraaziq confronted the campaign, which arrived in 30 Saudi military armored vehicles, and forced it to stop, amid armed tensions that nearly erupted into clashes between tribesmen and members of the raiding force.
He noted that tribal mediation led by sheikhs managed to defuse the situation, prompting the force to withdraw and return to Ataq.
