TEHRAN, Oct. 27 (YPA) – The Iranian military announced on Tuesday that a fire broke out on an oil tanker that violated regulations after it struck a sea mine east of the Strait of Hormuz.
Tasnim News Agency quoted the Navy as saying that the tanker attempted to cross a restricted and unsafe area after turning off its tracking systems, resulting in it striking a mine, sustaining damage, and catching fire.
The Navy reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz is an unsafe and closed area to violating vessels and ships attempting to pass through without prior coordination, and that safe passage requires coordination with the Iranian Armed Forces.
