JEDDAH, Oct. 24 (YPA) – Media outlets and social media activists reported hearing a series of powerful explosions at the Saudi King Faisal Naval Base in Jeddah on the Red Sea coast on Saturday.
Videos circulated online purportedly showed large flames and thick smoke rising from inside the base, located south of the city. Reports differed over whether the facility had been hit by a ballistic missile that Saudi air defenses failed to intercept.
Sanaa forces had not issued an official military statement claiming responsibility or providing details at the time of publication.
The reports emerged amid heightened regional tensions and alleged Saudi efforts to mobilize forces from several countries for escalation on Yemen’s fronts.
Observers said that, if confirmed as an attack, the incident would mark a significant development, as the base is a key Saudi naval facility on the Red Sea. However, the nature of the explosions and the extent of any damage remained unconfirmed.
