French associations resort to courts to stop military shipment to Israel

PARIS, Oct. 10 (YPA) – Three human rights associations resorted on Saturday to the administrative court in Paris to demand the suspension of an air shipment from Charles de Gaulle Airport to the Israeli defense company Elbit Systems via an El Al plane.

The associations, “For Respect of International Law,” “Struggle,” and “Security Action for Republican Ethics,” said that they filed a request with the court on Friday to stop the transfer due to the French state’s “failure” to prevent the shipment of military vehicle equipment.

They demanded verification of the classification of the goods, their transport permits, and the identity of the end user, noting that the Arms Trade Treaty prohibits the transfer in the event of genocide, stressing that allowing the flight entails legal responsibility for France.
