4 people injured, 2 pilots rescued in accident on USS Eisenhower

VIRGINIA, Sept. 29 (YPA) – Two pilots were rescued and four crew members of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier were injured in an accident during landing operations off the coast of Virginia on Monday evening.

The US Navy said on platform X that the accident occurred around 6:18 PM EST during landing operations, when two pilots from the 3rd Air Wing ejected from the aircraft and were immediately recovered and cared for.

It added that four crew members were injured, one of whom was transported to a hospital in Norfolk with non-life-threatening injuries, without disclosing the cause or circumstances of the accident.

The Eisenhower is a Nimitz-class carrier, and its home port is Norfolk, Virginia.
