5 injured in ambush targeted Saudi-backed forces in Yemen’s Shabwa

SHABWA, Sept. 25 (YPA) – Military reinforcements belonging to the Saudi-backed “Dera Al-Watan” forces were targeted on Friday in a roadside bomb attack at the Al-Sa’id junction, south of Ataq, the provincial capital of Shabwa province.

This marks the third such attack in the region within a week.

According to informed sources, tribal gunmen targeted the Saudi-bound military convoy traveling toward the southern port city of Aden during the early hours of Friday. A detonated improvised explosive device (IED) injured approximately five personnel and damaged several military vehicles.

Sources indicated that one of the individuals involved in the attack belongs to the “Aal Ajroom” clan of the “Aal Yeslam” tribe. Precise details regarding the full extent of casualties and material damage sustained by the forces remain unconfirmed.

The incident comes amid rising local opposition to the Saudi military presence in Aden and other southern provinces, alongside growing calls to end foreign intervention in the country.
