DHALEA, Aug. 26 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia has launched a new military escalation aimed at dragging UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions into a confrontation with Sanaa forces, media outlets reported, citing informed sources.
According to the sources, Saudi Arabia is pressuring STC factions to attack Sanaa forces’ positions in Yemen’s southern Dhalea province, seeking to deplete the STC’s military brigades.
They added that Brig. Gen. Hamdi Shukri, commander of the Fourth Military Region, had deployed military reinforcements, including vehicles and armored units, from Lahj province to the Dhalea front lines under Saudi directives.
According to the sources, Saudi Arabia seeks to escalate fighting in Dhalea to weaken the STC factions and relieve pressure on its allies in Marib and Hadramout, whose military reinforcements have suffered heavy losses in repeated missile and drone attacks by Sanaa forces.
