Iran declares discovery of 7.5 trillion cubic feet of gas in Pars field

THERAN, Aug. 23 (YPA) – Iran has announced the discovery of more than 7.5 trillion cubic feet of natural gas in the South Pars field, one of the country’s largest and most important gas reserves.

In a statement, Iran’s Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said the discovery could yield around 5.7 trillion cubic feet after accounting for the recovery factor, describing it as a significant addition to Iran’s gas reserves.

South Pars, located in Bushehr province, forms the Iranian section of the world’s largest offshore gas field, which is shared with Qatar’s North Field.

The discovery is expected to strengthen Iran’s ability to meet growing domestic gas demand and support future export plans, despite increasing US sanctions and pressure on Iran’s energy sector.
