Yemen weather service warns of unstable conditions, thunderstorms, heatwave across several governorates
SANAA, Aug. 23 (YPA) – The National Meteorological and Early Warning Center issued critical weather alerts on Sunday for residents in Sanaa and several other governorates, warning of volatile weather conditions and expected rainfall.
In its weather bulletin, the center urged citizens and motorists to exercise caution, avoid flood channels, ravines, and valleys, and refrain from crossing low-lying causeways. It also warned of reduced horizontal visibility caused by fog formation and rainfall along mountain slopes and roads.
The center highlighted the risks of thunderstorms and lightning strikes, advising the public to stay away from metal structures, trees, and high-altitude areas, disconnect electrical appliances, avoid standing water, and refrain from using mobile phones during storms.
Additionally, the center cautioned residents of coastal plains, deserts, and adjacent regions against high temperatures and severe humidity, advising against direct sun exposure during peak afternoon hours and emphasizing the need to stay hydrated.
