17 Palestinians killed ad Israeli violations of Gaza ceasefire persist

GAZA, Aug. 20 (YPA) – Israeli occupation forces continued violations of a Gaza ceasefire agreement Wednesday, carrying out more airstrikes and shelling across the enclave.

Over the past 24 hours, Israeli violations have resulted in the killing of 17 Palestinians and the injury of others in different parts of the Strip.

On Wednesday afternoon, the occupation forces committed a new massacre against Palestinian police officers on Wednesday afternoon after targeting one of their headquarters in Gaza City, killing nine people and wounding 15 others, according to local and medical sources.

In Gaza Port, Israeli forces targeted a café, killing seven people and injuring dozens.

Israeli media outlets, citing security sources, reported that the US administration had given Israel the “green light” to continue its targeted-killing policy in the Gaza Strip.

As Israeli airstrikes on the Strip continued, an Israeli security official told the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, Kan: “Israel does not believe that Hamas will surrender its weapons. Until that happens, the army will continue to counter threats, will not withdraw from the ‘Yellow Line,’ and no steps toward the reconstruction of the Strip will begin.”

The Israeli security sources added that the US approval granted Israeli forces “freedom of action” to target individuals in Gaza whom they consider threats, including activists deemed to pose an immediate danger, those allegedly planning attacks on Israeli forces, and members of what Israel calls its “elite forces.”
