Trump threatens military action against Oman amid Strait of Hormuz tensions

WASHINGTON, Aug. 17 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States could strike targets in Oman if Muscat interferes with US operations in the Strait of Hormuz, amid heightened tensions with Iran.

In an interview with “Fox News” correspondent Trey Yingst, Trump directly threatened the Gulf state with military action should it impede US naval maneuvers or administrative moves in the strategic waterway.

Asked about his administration’s position if Oman were to intervene in US actions in the Strait, Trump said, “If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb them heavily.”

Addressing the upcoming Israeli elections, Trump stated that while he considers it best not to intervene, he remains open to endorsing a candidate.
