Emirati Studies Center: Riyadh failed to learn lessons from decade-long Yemen war

ABU DHABI, July 28 (YPA) – The head of the Abu Dhabi-based Center for Political Studies, Khaled Al-Shamiri, criticized Saudi Arabia, accusing Riyadh of failing to learn the lessons of more than a decade of war in Yemen since the Saudi-led military intervention began in March 2015.

In a post on the “X” platform, Al-Shamiri claimed that the United States halted its military campaign against Sanaa after about a year of confrontation, while “Israel” also ended its blockade measures against Gaza in response to demands made by the Sanaa authorities.

He added that Washington and “Israel” had ultimately concluded that complying with Sanaa’s demands was less costly than continuing military confrontation, particularly given the uncertain outcome of a prolonged conflict.

Al-Shamiri continued his criticism of Riyadh, saying, “Meanwhile, the Saudi leadership, with its camel mentality, continues to maneuver and has learned nothing from 10 years of war.”

He warned Riyadh against making a miscalculation, saying that “Today, Sanaa is eager for war and seeking an opportunity to take revenge against the Kingdom.”
