SANAA, July 24 (YPA) – The UAE on Thursday put forward a political proposal calling on Saudi Arabia to withdraw from Yemen and hand over Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) head Rashad al-Alimi and his allies to authorities in Sanaa, to safeguard the kingdom’s security and prevent economic collapse amid a maritime blockade imposed by Sanaa.
Khaled Al-Shamiri, head of the UAE-funded “Political Studies Center,” said in a post on the social media platform X that “Riyadh still has a window of opportunity to spare itself a maritime blockade, which would be followed by an economic collapse.”

He clarified that the only way out lies in an official Saudi announcement to permanently withdraw from Yemen and lift its comprehensive blockade on Yemeni airports and ports, while simultaneously handing over “Al-Alimi and his gang” directly to authorities in Sanaa in exchange for security guarantees for the Kingdom.
Al-Shamiri added that such a ‘bold step’ would represent a comprehensive solution to the crises and challenges facing the region, laying the groundwork for a new phase of stability in Yemen, ‘in both the north and the south.’
