Widespread protests across Aden, several governorates demand end to “Saudi Tutelage”, service improvements

ADEN, July 23 (YPA) – Massive, angry demonstrations swept the city of Aden and the governorates of Hadramout, Mahra, Dhalea, and Lahj on Thursday for the second consecutive week.

The rallies were part of a popular escalation movement demanding an end to what organizers termed “Saudi tutelage,” and protesting the deterioration of living conditions and basic services.

In Aden, a demonstration was held in Mualla district to denounce the decline in basic services and the ongoing crisis in public utilities. Meanwhile, residents of Mukalla in Hadramout staged a protest outside the local authority building, declaring their rejection of the decision by the Saudi-backed “Presidential Leadership Council” Chairman Rashad Al-Alimi to resume oil exports.

Protesters held both the authorities and the Saudi side responsible for the power grid collapse and the failure of national resources to improve their standard of living.

Similarly, a mass rally took place in Al-Ghaydah city, Mahra, where a statement issued by the demonstrators held Saudi Arabia responsible for the economic crises. In Dhalea, a march passed through the city streets, raising portraits of the “dissolved” UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) leader Aidarous Al-Zubaidi and slogans opposing external tutelage. In Lahj, demonstrations launched in Al-Hawtah and Radfan districts, rejecting the establishment of Saudi-funded entities and calling for an immediate end to the economic escalation.
