Russian military aircraft crashes during training flight in Moscow region

MOSCOW, July 23 (YPA) – A Russian warplane crashed during a routine training mission in the Moscow region on Thursday, the state news agency TASS reported, citing the Defense Ministry.

The pilot ejected safely from the unarmed aircraft, according to ministry. No injuries or ground damage were reported.

“The plane fell in a deserted area, there was no damage on the ground,” the ministry said.

The flight was carried out without ammunition. A technical malfunction of the aircraft has been identified as the preliminary cause of the crash, the ministry added.

The Defense Ministry did not identify the type of aircraft.
