GAZA, July 16 (YPA) – At least three Palestinians were killed early Thursday in Israeli shelling of eastern Gaza City, in a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Israeli artillery heavily shelled the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood as Israeli tanks advanced along Al-Sikka Street in the eastern part of the area. The shelling continued throughout the morning.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said five people were wounded in the attack on Al-Zeitoun, adding that the father of the injured remained trapped.
An Israeli Apache helicopter also opened fire on eastern areas of Gaza City.
Later, local sources identified the three victims as Ibrahim Radwan Khattab, who was killed near the Dola Junction east of Gaza City, and Mohammed Ahed Al-Rifi and Suhail Salah Ahdibi, who were killed in shelling near the Al-Sanfour Junction.
In central Gaza, two Palestinians were wounded after an Israeli airstrike hit a house in the Al-Baraka area of Deir al-Balah.
Several other people were injured when Israeli forces targeted a house west of the Nuseirat refugee camp, while another airstrike hit the nearby Bureij refugee camp.
Witnesses said Israeli artillery also shelled northern Bureij and eastern Maghazi refugee camp. Israeli forces fired smoke bombs east of the Abu Al-Ajeen area, east of Deir al-Balah.
In southern Gaza, Israeli artillery targeted the town of Al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis, and shelled areas near Salah al-Din Street east of Hamad City.
