Trump demands financial compensation from Gulf states, “Israel” for security, guarding Strait of Hormuz
WASHINGTON, July 14 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump has demanded that Gulf nations and “Israel” provide financial compensation to the United States in exchange for military protection, securing vital waterways, and patrolling the Strait of Hormuz.
Responding to a press inquiry regarding which entities should compensate Washington, Trump clarified that the message is explicitly directed at five Gulf countries—Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait—in addition to “Israel.”
He emphasized that the United States spends vast sums of money to protect the resource-rich region and expects financial reimbursement in return.
In the same context, Trump raised the possibility of the United States taking control of and managing the Strait of Hormuz, suggesting that Washington should be compensated by imposing a 20% levy on every shipment passing through the vital waterway.
