TEHRAN, July 14 (YPA) – The Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran in Hormozgan Province rescued 23 sailors early Tuesday morning following a maritime collision in the coastal waters of Bandar Abbas.
The crew members were successfully evacuated to Qeshm Island and are reported to be in good health.
According to the Director General of Ports and Maritime Affairs in Hormozgan, as reported by the official news agency IRNA, the collision occurred at approximately 2:00 AM north of Qeshm Island between a bulk carrier and another cargo vessel. The impact resulted in water ingress in one of the ships, necessitating the immediate evacuation of its crew.
Immediately following the incident, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC) dispatched a tugboat and a pilot boat to the site to assess the situation. Emergency response teams and maritime experts are currently investigating the circumstances of the collision to determine the necessary follow-up measures.
