WASHINGTON, July 11 (YPA) –US President Donald Trump threatened late Friday into Saturday that the United States would “completely destroy” Iran if it attempted to assassinate him or succeeded in doing so.
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “There are 1,000 missiles ready to launch and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, followed immediately by thousands more, if the Iranian government carries out its threats, announced around the world, to assassinate or attempt to assassinate the current President of the United States. In that case, that would be me.”
He added that the orders had already been issued and that the U.S. military was fully prepared and capable of completely destroying all areas of Iran within one year, with the possibility of extending that period.
Earlier on Friday night, Trump announced that the United States had agreed to hold talks with Iran after Tehran requested, through mediators, the continuation of negotiations. However, he stated that the ceasefire agreed upon between the two countries in June had “ended.”
