Iran’s First VP calls punishing Khamenei’s assassins ‘sovereign duty’

TEHRAN, July 06 (YPA) – Iran’s First Vice President, Mohammad Reza Aref, said on Monday that the Islamic Republic’s exercise of its right to punish those responsible for the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is a “sovereign duty.”

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Aref wrote, “The nation’s legitimate demand to punish the murderous terrorists, which was voiced during today’s solemn funeral, is a lawful demand that aligns with international principles of self-defense.”

He added, “The Islamic Republic of Iran’s decisive exercise of its right to punish the perpetrators of this crime is a sovereign duty that will be achieved with strategic rationality.”
