Sanaa airport director clarifies facility ready for full operations, urges wider resumption of flights

SANAA, July 06 (YPA) – Sanaa International Airport Director Khaled Al-Shaif said on Sunday that the airport is fully prepared on the technical level to receive and operate civilian, commercial, and humanitarian flights.

In a press statement, Al-Shaif said, “Sanaa Airport is technically ready in every respect. What remains is for other countries to follow the example of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

He described the reopening of the airport as a legitimate right and said the Yemeni armed forces should secure that right by force if necessary should it continue to be denied, arguing that doing so would help alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

Al-Shaif made the remarks while commenting on the recent Iranian flight to Sanaa, which he described as breaking the air blockade on the airport, in a video statement posted on his account on the social media platform X under the title: “Reopening Sanaa International Airport is a right for all Yemenis, and rights are secured, not granted.”
