HAIFA, July 02 (YPA) – Two young men were killed early Thursday in separate shooting incidents in the cities of Haifa and Reineh, bringing the death toll from violent crime in the Arab community in Israel since the beginning of the year to 141.
Mohammad Abdel Zeidan, in his 30s, was shot dead shortly after midnight in Reineh, near Nazareth. Several other people sustained injuries of varying severity.
Hours earlier, 18-year-old Jonathan William Khoury was killed and two others were seriously injured in a separate shooting on Hahagana Street in the city of Haifa.
The latest incidents raise to 10 the number of people killed in violent crimes in Arab towns and communities since the beginning of the week, amid a wave of shootings and vehicle bombings reported in several localities.
According to available data, the number of homicide victims in Israel’s Arab community since the start of 2026 has reached 141, amid a continuing rise in organized crime and what critics describe as the Israeli government and police’s failure to take effective measures to curb the violence.
