Sanaa discusses future cooperation, outstanding issues with UN
SANAA, June 29 (YPA) – The Deputy Foreign Minister in the Sanaa government, Abdulwahid Abu Ras, held talks on Sunday with UN officials and representatives—including the Resident Representative of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), Francesco Galtieri, the Resident Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO), Jaafar Hussain, and the Advisor to the UN Resident Coordinator, Abdul Nasser Awali.
The meeting focused on the future of relations and cooperation, as well as ways to address existing issues. During the discussion, Abu Ras renewed Sanaa’s commitment to ongoing dialogue as the optimal path to overcome challenges and restore trust in the international organization.
Abu Ras attributed the continuous need for humanitarian aid to the “aggression and blockade” on Yemen, emphasizing the Yemeni people’s aspiration to achieve self-sufficiency and rely on their own resources. He reiterated the rejection of the ongoing “aggression, occupation, and blockade,” asserting the determination to end them by all legitimate means.
For their part, the UN team members affirmed the organization’s commitment to continuing dialogue with Sanaa and providing all possible forms of support to the Yemeni people.
