WASHINGTON, June 24 (YPA) – Hebrew media reports indicated that the United States has begun reducing the number of its refueling aircraft stationed at Ben Gurion Airport, following an Israeli request aimed at easing operational pressure and freeing up space for summer travel traffic.
Channel “i24News” quoted two informed sources stating that the withdrawn aircraft were relocated to undisclosed sites, emphasizing that the step does not signify a reduction in the US military presence in the region.
According to “Haaretz” newspaper, the presence of around 75 US aircraft caused severe operational pressure and financial losses estimated at $190 million, with expectations to reach nearly $540 million by the end of the year if the situation persisted.
This situation forced some airlines belonging to the Israeli occupation to relocate their aircraft to European airports.
