Video: STC supporters stage celebrations in Aden, Seiyun after Saudi 4–0 loss to Spain

ADEN, June 22 (YPA) – Dozens of supporters of the “dissolved” Southern Transitional Council (STC) took part in striking nighttime celebratory marches in the city of Aden and also in Seiyun of Hadramout province, following Saudi Arabia’s heavy defeat to Spain, which ended 4–0 in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Videos were circulated on social media showing celebrants in Seiyun last night waving Spanish flags, while fireworks lit up the sky over Aden, expressing satisfaction over the Saudi national team’s loss.

Participants in the marches also burned images of Saudi officials and trampled on them, along with pictures of the Saudi military representative in Aden, Falah Al-Shahrani.

The burning was accompanied by obscene chants, which the agency said it would not publish due to professional standards.

These unprecedented developments come amid rising political and military tensions following Saudi Arabia’s move earlier this year to dissolve the STC, after its armed factions were targeted in Wadi Hadramout at the end of last year.

Tensions have further escalated recently after the Saudi-backed Aden government requested the UN Security Council to include Aidarous al-Zubaidi and his associates on sanctions lists, reportedly at Riyadh’s urging, in addition to the freezing of STC funds and bank accounts in Aden.
