Israeli occupation arrests physician in Ramallah

QUDS, June 22 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation forces detained Palestinian physician Mazen al-Rantisi on Sunday following a raid on his home in Ramallah’s al-Tira neighborhood, located in the occupied West Bank.

His arrest drew significant attention due to his respected humanitarian and medical contributions within the Palestinian community.

Known affectionately as the “doctor of the poor” and “doctor of the needy,” al-Rantisi has devoted many years to humanitarian and volunteer work, serving low-income patients and those unable to afford medical care amid challenging economic conditions and ongoing Israeli escalations in the West Bank.

Al-Rantisi is widely recognized for offering medical consultations at nominal fees, much lower than standard rates.

He frequently provides free consultations and humanitarian aid, often waiving treatment costs to help those in need.

Beyond his clinic, he remained accessible to patients through phone and social media, offering free medical advice and support even outside regular hours.

This unwavering commitment has earned him the esteemed title of “doctor of the poor” and a cherished place in Palestinian society.
