Mojtaba Khamenei reveals his stance on MoU with Washington
TEHRAN, June 19 (YPA) – The Leader of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, announced on Thursday the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the presidents of Iran and the United States.
He noted that reaching this stage was the result of intensive efforts by the authorities, motivated by empathy and goodwill.
In a speech Thursday evening, Khamenei explained that the US president, driven by desperation, used every available means to achieve this goal. He pointed out that while he had a different opinion in principle, he granted permission in compliance with the decision of the president, in his capacity as head of the Supreme National Security Council, and the other members, in order to protect the rights of the Iranian people and the Resistance Front.
He added that he received assurances from the president that he would take responsibility and that if the American side made excessive demands, they would not be accepted.
Khamenei continued that the next phase would be one of waiting for the implementation of the agreed-upon conditions, emphasizing that any future direct negotiations would not signify acceptance of the other side’s vision or submission to it.
