One Zionist soldier killed, seven others injured in southern Lebanon

OCCUPIED PALESTINE, June 18 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation army announced on Thursday the death of a reserve soldier and the injury of seven others, including an officer with the rank of colonel, in an incident that occurred during military operations in southern Lebanon.

In a statement, the occupation army said the deceased is Staff Sergeant Reserve Alexander Filin (29), from the city of Haifa, who served in the 36th Division, noting that he was killed by the explosion of an improvised explosive device targeting a command team belonging to the deputy commander of the division.

It added that the incident also resulted in the injury of seven soldiers, including the deputy commander of the 36th Division. Three of the injuries were described as moderate and four as minor.

According to the occupation army’s account, soldiers from the deputy commander’s team and members of the Givati Brigade were walking on foot in the area when the explosion occurred, injuring several of them, after which they were evacuated by air to hospitals for treatment.

Separately, Israel’s Health Ministry said that hospitals have treated a total of 9,230 casualties since the launch of the military operation dubbed “Roar of the Lion” on February 28.

The ministry’s data also showed that hospitals recorded 1,331 casualties from the northern front alone following the implementation of the ceasefire with Iran.
