UN Security Council to hold meeting on humanitarian situation in Gaza

NEW YORK, June 18 (YPA) – The UN Security Council is scheduled to hold a public meeting late Thursday to discuss the humanitarian situation in Gaza, under the agenda item “The situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian question.”

The ten elected members of the Council (the non-permanent members) requested the meeting to discuss the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and four of the five permanent members—China, France, Russia, and the United Kingdom—supported the request.

The Council is expected to receive a briefing from Tom Fletcher, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs.
