Iran says it reached MOU with US under monitored implementation terms

TEHRAN, June 15 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry announced that a memorandum of understanding has been reached with the United States, providing for the end of the U.S. maritime blockade on Iran and the immediate and permanent cessation of military operations across various fronts, including the Lebanese front.

The ministry stressed, however, that the agreement does not signify trust in Washington.

Iran’s deputy foreign minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, said the memorandum was not solely the result of diplomacy, but also reflected what he described as Iran’s military achievements, the sacrifices of those killed in confrontations with Iran’s adversaries, public support for the armed forces, guidance from the Iran’s Supreme Leader, and the efforts of Iranian officials.

Gharibabadi stated that the memorandum was drafted amid continued distrust between the two sides, emphasizing that Tehran would closely monitor Washington’s implementation of its commitments and compliance with the agreement’s provisions. He added that Iran’s armed forces would remain on alert to confront any potential threats.

He further announced that the formal signing ceremony for the memorandum is scheduled for next Friday, to be followed by a meeting between the heads of the two delegations to discuss arrangements for the next phase of negotiations.

According to Gharibabadi, Iran will first verify U.S. compliance with commitments related to ending the conflict, lifting sanctions and restrictions, and releasing frozen Iranian assets before proceeding further.

He concluded by saying that the launch of a 60-day technical negotiation process is contingent upon Washington fulfilling and demonstrating compliance with these commitments on the ground, stressing that no transition to the next stage of talks will occur until the verification process is fully completed.

The Iranian foreign ministry added that the terms of the memorandum will be officially published after it is signed.
