Powerful blasts rock vicinity of “First Military Region” HQ in Sayoun

HADRAMOUT, June 14 (YPA) – A series of four consecutive explosions shook the vicinity of the Saudi-backed “First Military Region” headquarters in the city of Sayoun, Hadramout province in eastern Yemen, on Sunday.

The blasts coincided with anti-aircraft fire from positions surrounding the camp, which is controlled by the “Emergency” forces, triggering widespread panic among local residents.

Reports regarding the cause of the incident remain conflicting. One account suggests that air defenses engaged an unidentified drone hovering over the headquarters, amid unofficial accusations linking the drone to UAE-backed forces.

Conversely, alternative reports indicate that the explosions resulted from a direct strike on an ammunition depot inside the camp, reportedly wounding several “Emergency” force personnel. Meanwhile, the region’s command has maintained silence.

These developments exacerbate ongoing security tensions driven by widening rifts between Saudi-backed factions (“Emergency” and “Dera Al-Watan”). They follow previous armed clashes in Sayoun late last December between Saudi-backed forces and UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) factions.
