Amnesty International accuses Israel occupation of ethnic cleansing in West Bank

RAMALLAH, June 10 (YPA) – Amnesty International on Wednesday accused Israel of pursuing policies that have led to the displacement of Palestinian Bedouin and pastoral communities in the occupied West Bank, arguing that these measures are linked to settlement expansion and territorial control.

In a report titled “Erasing All That Is Palestinian,” the organization said dozens of Bedouin and herding communities have been displaced or face the risk of displacement since 2023 amid increased settler violence and settlement growth, particularly in Area C, which comprises around 60% of the West Bank.

Amnesty said Israeli occupation’s government policies have accelerated land seizures and settlement expansion, while support for settlements and settlers has contributed to growing pressure on Palestinian communities.

The organization rejected claims that settler attacks are isolated incidents, arguing instead that they form part of a broader pattern linked to settlement policies and expansion efforts.

According to the report, the displacement of Palestinian communities could constitute forced displacement under international law.

Amnesty called on Israeli authorities to protect civilians and urged the international community to take action to prevent further displacement and ensure accountability for alleged violations.

The report also highlighted a rise in reported settler attacks since 2023, including incidents involving property damage and violence against residents.
