Ansarullah official: No maritime security as long as siege and violence continue in Gaza and Lebanon

SANAA, June 09 (YPA) – Mohammed Al-Farah, member of Ansarullah’s Political Bureau, affirmed that Yemen’s decision to ban navigation linked to Israel reflects Sanaa’s firm commitment to the path of resistance, supporting oppressed peoples, and confronting what he described as American hegemony and Israeli aggression.

He highlighted the importance of the move in asserting Yemen’s full sovereignty over the Bab al-Mandab Strait and utilizing this vital position in favor of regional causes  and safeguarding the interests of the Yemeni people.

In a series of statements published on X, Al-Farah said the decision sends a clear message that Yemen will not remain a bystander in the face of what he described as crimes and blockades targeting the Yemeni people and the peoples of the region.

He stressed that the security of maritime routes is not an exclusive right reserved for the United States, “Israel”, and their allies, but is closely tied to respecting the rights of peoples and ending aggression and blockades.

He stated that the continued siege, starvation policies, and attacks targeting Yemen, Gaza, and Lebanon cannot be met with silence or submission, but instead require pressure measures that raise the cost of aggression and establish new deterrence equations in the region.

According to Al-Farah, the move comes in response to Israel’s ongoing escalation in Palestine and Lebanon, as well as attempts to expand what he described as unchecked aggression without facing political, economic, or security consequences.

The Ansarullah official further said that Yemen, through this position, is reinforcing the notion that any escalation against the peoples of the region will no longer remain confined to a single geographic arena.

He added that resistance forces now possess influence and deterrence capabilities that force “Israel” to confront the repercussions of its actions on multiple fronts and levels.

Al-Farah concluded by stressing that closing the Bab al-Mandab Strait to Israeli shipping is not a temporary or tactical measure, but rather an expression of a political and strategic will that underscores Yemen’s active role in the broader struggle to defend the region.

He said the move demonstrates Yemen’s ability to leverage its geographic position and strategic significance as an effective source of pressure against projects of domination and occupation until the aggression ends, blockades are lifted, and peoples secure their legitimate rights to freedom, dignity, and sovereignty.
