Dutch award-winning report documents Israeli genocidal war against Gaza children

Amsterdam

AMSTERDAM, June 08 (YPA) – Dutch journalists “Mode Evening” and Willem Veenstra have received the “Journalistic Excellence” award at the European Journalism Awards for a report examining the impact of Israeli genocidal war in Gaza.

According to the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant, the awarded report documented cases involving 114 children under the age of 15 who were killed or injured by gunshot wounds to the head or chest, linked to Israeli occupation fire.

Titled “What the surgeon tells”, the investigation was based on testimonies from 17 international doctors and one nurse who worked in Gaza. The medical professionals described patterns of injuries they said were consistent with gunshot wounds to children.

The report concluded that these accounts raised serious concerns about the nature of injuries sustained by minors during the conflict.

The European Journalism Awards recognize outstanding work across categories including investigative journalism, opinion, and journalistic excellence, with the latter awarded to reporting that demonstrates high professional standards and in-depth investigation.
