Iran launches over 30 ballistic missiles at “Israel” following overnight airstrikes

TEHRAN, June 08 (YPA) – Iran launched waves of ballistic missiles targeting the central and southern parts of the occupied Palestinian territories on Monday, escalating regional hostilities following overnight Israeli airstrikes on Iranian military targets.

Iranian state television confirmed the missile strikes, while Israeli occupation media reported damage and several casualties across multiple locations.

The Israeli military’s Home Front Command reported that air defense sirens sounded extensively across northern and central “Israel,” extending south to the Negev desert, Beersheba, and the Gaza periphery.

According to Israel’s Channel 12, missiles and intercepted shrapnel impacted Beit Shemesh, west of Jerusalem (Quds), as well as the southern city of Beersheba. Israeli media further reported that an Iranian missile struck a military site in the West Bank, resulting in casualties, and that five buildings were damaged in the Itamar settlement east of Nablus. Air sirens were also activated at the Zikim military base near the Gaza strip, while residents across the region reported hearing continuous, loud explosions.

The escalations began early Monday morning when the Israeli Air Force launched airstrikes against military objectives in western and central Iran. Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that “Israel utilized air-launched ballistic missiles during the attack on Iranian territory.”

The daytime missile barrage follows a separate overnight strike launched by Iran late Sunday, which Tehran described as a response to an earlier Israeli attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs. Sunday night’s attack targeted Haifa, the Galilee, and the occupied Golan Heights, triggering widespread sirens and temporarily halting flight operations at Ben Gurion International Airport.

Israeli security officials noted a shift in Iranian tactics, with Israeli news outlet Walla reporting that Iranian forces have transitioned to firing heavier, concentrated missile salvoes.

Military and civil defense teams in Israel are currently assessing the full extent of the casualties and structural damage
