CNN: Gerald Ford is out of service

WASHINGTON, June 07 (YPA) – CNN has revealed new footage showing that the damage from the fire, which the US Navy claims broke out on board the US aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford, was much greater than previously announced by the US Navy.

The network quoted a US official in its report as saying, “The fire suppression system on board the carrier (Ford) failed to work, forcing the sailors to fight the fire with their own efforts.”

The official indicated that the aircraft carrier might need at least a full year before it is ready to sail again, stressing that the fire directly affected its operational capabilities, and that the US Navy deliberately downplayed the actual extent of the damage.
