ADEN, June 02 (YPA) – Media activists have exposed a new corruption scandal involving the embezzlement of public funds in areas under Saudi-backed control in southern and eastern Yemen.
According to the activists, a food supply contractor for Saudi-backed forces received instructions from pro-Saudi Prime Minister Shaya al-Zindani to disburse $10 million, while three ministers agreed to facilitate the process in exchange for a 30% commission, estimated at around $3 million, shared among the officials involved.
The allegations further claim that media figure Anis Mansour has pledged to publish details of the case in a forthcoming investigative report.
The reported case comes amid a series of corruption allegations and accusations of mismanagement of public funds against the Saudi-backed government.
Meanwhile, southern and eastern Yemen continue to face a deepening economic crisis, with residents struggling to access basic food supplies amid a near-collapse of essential services, particularly electricity, as well as severe deterioration in the health and education sectors.
Despite ongoing public protests over corruption and worsening living conditions, the Saudi-backed authorities have not taken any measures to curb the economic collapse or improve essential public services.
