EU calls on Tel Aviv to halt its military escalation in Lebanon

BRUSSELS, June 01 (YPA) – The European Union called on Israel to halt its military escalation in Lebanon and respect its sovereignty and territorial integrity, as raids on southern Lebanon continued despite the ceasefire agreement.

European Commission spokesperson for foreign affairs, Anouar El-Anouni, said at a press conference: “Israel must continue to engage in diplomatic efforts,” adding that the Lebanese are facing significant challenges and did not choose this war.

He affirmed that the Union stands in solidarity with the Lebanese people and will continue to provide support and urgent assistance to help the authorities overcome the crisis.
