Cyberattack disrupts British defence minister’s aircraft systems

LONDON, May 25 (YPA) – The aircraft carrying UK Defense Secretary John Healey was reportedly targeted in a suspected cyberattack while returning last week from a visit to British troops in Estonia, British media reports said on Monday.

According to the reports, the incident occurred on Thursday as Healey’s plane was flying back from southeastern Estonia near the Russian border.

The aircraft was carrying senior political and military advisers, an army general, photographers, and a journalist from The Times.

During the flight, several electronic systems malfunctioned, including the aircraft’s GPS and satellite navigation systems, forcing the pilots to rely on backup internal navigation tools for the remainder of the three-hour journey.

The reports noted that it remains unclear whether Healey himself was the intended target of the incident, although the flight path of the government aircraft had been publicly visible on flight-tracking websites.

The UK Ministry of Defence has not yet issued an official comment on the matter.
