Former “Israeli” official: Our Presence in Lebanon is a disaster accomplishing no objective

OCCUPIED QUDS, May 25 (YPA) – The former chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee in the Israeli occupation entity, Ofer Shelah, acknowledged that the presence of Israeli soldiers in Lebanon places them in a “highly problematic combat situation.”

The Israeli official warned that thinking of a “security zone” is a recipe for a “disaster” that will end in fleeing “with our tails between our legs, just as we did in 2000.”

In a new study published by the entity’s “Institute for National Security Studies” (INSS) and reported by Maariv newspaper, Shelah highlighted the following points:

He considered any American or Israeli “achievement” to be temporary and a failure unless it includes something tangible, stressing that the Iranian nuclear program cannot be eliminated without an Iranian decision, and that time continues to work in Tehran’s favor.

Shelah stated that President Donald Trump’s situation “is worsening” due to a lack of understanding and support for this war within the US and the Republican Party, especially as the American public sees it as driving up fuel prices and hitting their standard of living.

He affirmed that relations have been heading toward a bad place for a long time, describing “Israel’s” image as “the tail wagging the dog” after Benjamin Netanyahu dragged Trump into a war from which the United States will emerge “with tears in its eyes.”
