Death, injury toll continues to climb in Gaza

GAZA, May 23 (YPA) – The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Saturday that the death toll from the ongoing Israeli genocidal war has risen to 72,783 fatalities, with 172,779 injuries since October 7, 2023.

In its daily statistical report, the ministry said hospitals in Gaza received eight martyrs over the past 48 hours, including seven newly reported deaths and one body recovered from under the rubble, in addition to 29 injured people.

The ministry added that since the ceasefire on October 11, fatalities have risen to 890, with 2,677 people injured, while rescue crews recovered 777 bodies during the same period.

It also noted that a number of victims remain trapped under debris or in inaccessible areas, as ambulance and civil defense teams continue to face difficulties reaching them due to ongoing conditions on the ground.
