Violent raid on student housing leaves several injured in Taiz

TAIZ, May 18 (YPA) – Students from Mocha district were injured in a violent attack on their residence in central Taiz, an area under the control of pro-Saudi armed factions, in an incident highlighting ongoing security tensions in the city.

According to human rights and media sources, armed individuals stormed a student housing facility in the “AMD” area of central Taiz city late last night.

The sources said the attackers assaulted the students, leaving several of them with varying injuries, some of which were described as serious, before they were transferred to Al-Thawra Hospital for treatment.

They added that the assailants also caused significant damage to the dormitory’s contents, while some students were later taken to Al-Mudhaffar police station for questioning.

The circumstances and motives behind the incident remain unclear, amid continued reports of security instability in areas controlled by pro-Saudi factions in Taiz and other southern regions.
