Iran’s 2026 world cup participation confirmed after FIFA assurances

TEHRAN, May 18 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry confirmed on Monday that the country’s national football team is guaranteed participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The tournament is scheduled to be hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, following official guarantees received by Tehran from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).

The ministry said, in a statement, that FIFA had secured commitments from the United States, as one of the host nations, regarding all entry, organizational, and security procedures for participating delegations.

The confirmation follows earlier statements from FIFA emphasizing that all qualified teams will be allowed to participate without exception, in line with guarantees provided by the host countries, effectively addressing prior concerns over logistical and diplomatic issues surrounding the tournament.
