Trump: US can and will change Cuba

WASHINGTON, May 16 (YPA) – US President Donald Trump sated on Saturday that he believes the United States will be able to reshape the situation in Cuba in Washington’s favor.

Speaking in an interview with Fox News, Trump said: “I’ve been hearing about Cuba since I was a child. They always talked about what was happening there, and I believe we will succeed in changing it.”

On January 29, Trump signed an executive order authorizing tariffs on imports from countries supplying oil to Cuba, and declared a state of emergency over what he described as a Cuban threat to US national security.

Meanwhile, the Cuban government accused the United States of using energy sanctions to suffocate the Cuban economy and worsen living conditions for the population.
