Rodriguez: Only broad and resolute international coalition can confront US transgressions

HAVANA, May 15 (YPA) – Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez asserted on Friday that confronting US transgressions globally requires a broad and resolute international alliance, warning that these transgressions are doomed to fail unless countries succumb to intimidation.

Rodriguez stated, in a post on the X platform during the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ meeting, that reforming global governance and the multilateral system is an urgent political necessity, not merely an aspiration.

He emphasized that strengthening the United Nations should aim to consolidate genuine democracy within it, not to arbitrarily reduce its resources.

The statements come amid ongoing US efforts to overthrow or weaken the Cuban government, while Havana accuses Washington of seeking to seize the country’s resources and strangle its economy.

Meanwhile, the United Nations last week described the US embargo as illegal, asserting that it impedes the Cuban people’s right to development and undermines their rights to food, education, health, water, and sanitation.
