Two earthquakes strike Dhamar

DHAMAR, May 14 (YPA) – Seismic monitoring stations recorded two consecutive earthquakes, on Thursday, in Jahran district, north of Dhamar Governorate, for the third time since last Tuesday.

The seismic bulletin issued by the Earthquake and Volcano Monitoring and Study Center stated that the stations recorded the first tremor at 5:30 AM Sana’a time, with a magnitude of 2.0 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was northwest of Ma’bar city, the district’s center, at a depth of 9 km.

It explained that the second tremor, which struck the same area at 10:19 AM, was stronger, reaching 3.2 on the Richter scale, 7 km northwest of Ma’bar, at a depth of 8 km.

This comes after a similar tremor was recorded last Tuesday with a magnitude of 2.3 on the Richter scale at a depth of 3 km in areas located northwest of Dhamar Governorate.
