Sanaa: Authorities bust illegal facility producing counterfeit detergents

SANAA, May 13 (YPA) – The Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Investment in Sanaa announced on Wednesday the closure of an illegal facility involved in manufacturing counterfeit detergents in the capital.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat commercial fraud and protect consumer interests.

The bust followed intensive monitoring and investigative efforts that traced suspicious products in the local market back to the facility. The site was engaged in replicating global brands for body, hair, and laundry care using forged labels. The raid was executed by joint field teams, including the Ministry of Economy, the Yemen Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control Organization (YSMO), and the Industrial and Commercial Prosecution, under the direct supervision of ministry leadership.

The Ministry confirmed the seizure of large quantities of counterfeit products and tools used in the forgery process. The facility has been shut down, and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution to complete legal proceedings against those involved.

This operation reflects the Ministry’s intensified market oversight aimed at ensuring product safety and maintaining market integrity, while warning of the health and economic risks posed by counterfeit goods.
