Political storm in Tel Aviv: Degel HaTorah breaks ties with Netanyahu, calls for early elections

OCCUPIED QUDS, May 13 (YPA) – Rabbi Dov Lando, the spiritual leader of the Haredi “Degel HaTorah” faction, has officially announced a political break from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition.

Lando declared the partnership over, calling for the immediate dissolution of the Knesset and a transition to early elections.

The crisis stems from the government’s failure to pass the “Haredi Conscription Exemption Law,” an issue the party views as a direct threat to its electoral base.

Following the announcement, opposition parties moved quickly to submit a bill to dissolve the Knesset, amid strong indications that early elections could be held this September.

In an attempt to contain the fallout, Netanyahu sought support from the “Shas” party to stabilize the situation; however, its leader, Aryeh Deri, reportedly rejected the request.

Observers suggest that the collapse of the right-wing coalition is now “inevitable,” as Netanyahu attempts to buy time to finalize key judicial legislation before the government’s dissolution.
