Palestinian Center: Thousands of Gaza families still unaware of missing relatives’ fate

GAZA, May 09 (YPA) – The Palestinian Center for Missing and Forcibly Disappeared said on Saturday that thousands of families in the Gaza Strip remain unaware of the fate of their missing relatives amid the ongoing conflict.

In a statement published by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Information Office, the center accused Israeli occupation’s authorities of deliberately withholding information about Palestinians held in Israeli prisons, describing the policy as a systematic tactic aimed at prolonging the suffering of affected families.

The center stated that the occupation’s continued refusal to disclose detainee lists or grant the International Committee of the Red Cross access to prisoners amounts to a policy of enforced disappearance and collective punishment.

It added that maintaining a complete blackout on detainees deepens the anguish of Palestinian families searching for information about their loved ones, stressing that providing such information would be procedurally simple if Israeli authorities chose to do so.
